Sherry Hall, Executive Director

Sherry and her husband Steve founded GRACE Rides in 2008.  Sherry is a PATH Certified Instructor, and has served as a volunteer as Executive Director for GRACE since the program began.  She gained knowledge of special needs throughout her youth by serving periodically in K-12 special education classes taught by her mother.  She grew up in NW Florida on a working farm with horses, participated in 4-H, and continued riding throughout her life.  She eventually left the farm for the “big city”, and completed Bachelor’s Degrees with honors at FSU in both Clinical Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling/Education in 1982.  Sherry’s employment included experience in education as assistant for curriculum coordinator in Leon County, in feeds and nutrition at FDACS Animal Feed Testing Lab and in counseling for Leon Center For Independent Living (focusing on education and independent living skills for disabled young adults), before she returned to FSU to receive a Juris Doctorate degree in 1986.  Her passion for and involvement with horses continued throughout it all and by 2010 she devoted herself full-time to GRACE Rides.  Sherry has a great love for animals (horses in particular) and for children.  She continually works to increase her knowledge in riding instruction and in equine-assisted therapies, and is working to receive an additional PATH certification as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning.

Steve Hall, Board of Directors

Steve has been a driving force for GRACE Rides from the time it was merely a thought and a dream in 2008.  He has offered his legal services to help us to jump through all the hoops required by the local, state and federal government to establish and continue our program as a 501(c)3 charity.   He regularly steps in to assist with any need that GRACE Rides has, providing cover in areas ranging from sidewalking, to grooming, to repairs, to fundraising, to filing, to Board of Directors’ participation and management and organization, and his most favorite job — manure management and relocation!

Elizabeth Scotch, Barn Manager/ Administrative Assistant
Elizabeth joined GRACE Rides after she graduated in May 2018 froAuburn University with a degree in Equine Science. She has competed in the Hunter/Jumper discipline since she was 8 years old and was a competing member of the Auburn IHSA Equestrian Team.  Elizabeth has a great love for horses and for children. She has gained therapeutic riding experience from volunteering at local therapeutic riding centers in high school and in college. Elizabeth helps with barn/horse care, training, administrative tasks, and therapeutic riding classes.

Miranda Elmore Martin, Assistant Barn Manager
Miranda joined GRACE Rides as a volunteer in Fall 2015 when the program was in Niceville. She was thrown right in to feeding, mucking, and caring for all our GRACE horses becoming one of the most dependable volunteers. Miranda then became a paid employee for all of her hard work and dedication to the program. Her hard work and attention to detail is what keeps this barn looking its best. Miranda, her husband, Sean, and her son, Levi, have been a tremendous help in the transition to the new barn in Defuniak Springs.
